Thin enough to prove it with a $5 bill
Traditional pillows average 5 to 7 inches. Ours start at just 1.75. For many sleepers, less loft can mean less neck tension and more comfortable nights.
medium firm support
Compare all five heights
Every Slim Series pillow is the same gel memory foam and the same 25" x 16" footprint. Only the height changes. Pick the loft that matches how you sleep.

Every detail matters when
you're this close to perfect
Sleep aligned, not propped up
A thinner pillow means your head isn't being pushed forward the way it is on a traditional pillow.
Made to sleep cooler
Gel-infused memory foam and built-in ventilation channels help move heat away from your head. Designed so you spend less time flipping to the cool side.
CertiPUR-US® certified foam
Independently tested for content, emissions, and durability.
Easy to keep fresh
The zippered cover is 60% polyester, 40% viscose. It's soft, it breathes, and it goes straight in the washer whenever it needs a refresh.
What counts as a low profile pillow?
Walk down any bedding aisle and most of what you find is five to seven inches thick. That height is built for side sleepers, who need to fill the gap between the shoulder and the ear. There is no official rulebook, but in practice a low profile pillow means anything under about four inches, and a truly flat pillow sits closer to two. Our Slim Series starts at an ultra thin 1.75" and tops out at 4.0", with three exact heights in between.
Low loft suits more people than the aisle suggests. Stomach sleepers are the clearest case: when the pillow is too tall, the head gets pushed back and the neck holds that angle all night. Many back sleepers do better on a thin pillow too, since a tall one tips the chin toward the chest. And if you sleep with an arm under the pillow, your arm is already adding height, so a flatter setup can keep the whole line more level. Many sleepers find that gentler angle can ease the morning stiffness they had been blaming on the mattress. If you want help choosing, our thin pillow buying guide walks through it by sleep position.
Thin doesn't mean flimsy. A soft, floppy pillow can squash down to almost nothing under the weight of your head, then puff back up the moment you move. Ours are cut from a single piece of gel memory foam, so a 2.75" pillow really is 2.75". The feel is medium firm: it gives where your head presses and holds steady everywhere else. New pillows arrive vacuum-packed. If yours needs help reaching full height, see our pillow expansion guide.

Max Cool Series
Same gel-infused memory foam with CarbonBlue™ phase-change coating. It actively absorbs heat as you sleep, so the pillow manages temperature instead of relying on airflow alone.
Versalayer
Six foam layers in three sizes let you adjust from 0.75" to 6" in precise 0.25" increments. One firm layer repositions in the stack for firmness control.

Common questions
If you don't already have a particular height in mind, we recommend starting with our 2.75" Ultra Slim. It is our most popular and least-returned model. For many customers, the 2.75" height is the sweet spot: enough support to hold the neck, low enough to stay aligned. As a general guide: stomach sleepers usually do best with 1.75" to 2.75", back sleepers similar, and side sleepers who prefer a lower loft tend to like our 3.25" or 4.0" heights. If you're still unsure, the Versalayer lets you try every height in one pillow.
CertiPUR-US® certified memory foam is tested for durability. It's designed to hold its shape and support over time. If your pillow is new, give it 24-48 hours to fully expand after unboxing. If it still hasn't fully expanded, see our pillow expansion guide for step-by-step help.
Our standard sized pillows are 25 inches long and 16 inches wide. Our king sized pillows are 33 inches long and 16 inches wide. They will fit in regular standard and king sized pillowcases. Due to their low loft, there might be some extra room in the pillowcase, but we very rarely hear complaints about the pillows fitting in normal pillowcases.
Same heights, same shape. The difference is the foam: Slim Series uses gel memory foam with ventilation channels (good cooling). Max Cool uses the same gel-infused memory foam coated with CarbonBlue™ phase-change material that soaks up body heat as you fall asleep (advanced cooling). If you sleep hot, the Max Cool is worth the upgrade.
Like any new memory foam product, there may be a faint smell when first unboxed. It's harmless and typically fades within a few hours. Our foam is CertiPUR-US® certified, meaning it's tested for low VOC emissions.
You can absolutely return the pillow in any condition within 30 days of purchase through Amazon for a full refund. If there's any uncertainty about height, the Versalayer is worth considering. You can try every height in one pillow.
While sleeping without a pillow may seem like the simplest solution for stomach sleepers, a thin pillow can actually provide better support. Without any pillow, your head drops below the plane of your mattress, which may strain your neck in the opposite direction. A low-profile pillow, even as thin as 1.75", helps keep your spine in a more neutral line from head to hips. It's a small amount of loft that can make a meaningful difference in how you feel in the morning.
It depends on your build and preference. Side sleepers generally need more loft than stomach or back sleepers to fill the gap between their shoulder and head. Our thinner models (1.75" to 2.75") are typically too low for most side sleepers. However, some side sleepers with narrower shoulders or who prefer a lower-loft feel do well with our 3.25" or 4.0" heights. If you sleep in multiple positions, our Versalayer pillow may be the best fit. It adjusts from 0.75" all the way up to 6", so you can find the exact height that works for you.
A few common signs suggest your pillow may be too thick: you wake up with neck pain or stiffness, you find yourself pushing your pillow aside during the night, or you feel like your head is being tilted upward when lying on your stomach. Back sleepers may notice their chin is pushed toward their chest. If any of this sounds familiar, a thinner pillow designed to keep your spine in a more neutral alignment may help. Our pillows range from 1.75" to 4.0", so there's likely a height that better matches the way you sleep.
CertiPUR-US® is an independent certification program that tests foam for harmful chemicals, heavy metals, and excessive VOC (volatile organic compound) emissions. All Bluewave Bedding pillows are made with CertiPUR-US® certified foam, which means the memory foam has been tested and verified to meet standards for content, emissions, and durability.
The memory foam itself should not be machine washed or submerged in water, as it can damage the foam's structure. If the foam needs cleaning, spot clean it with a damp cloth and mild detergent, then let it air dry completely. The removable pillow cover, however, is fully machine washable. Just unzip it, toss it in on a gentle cycle, and tumble dry on low heat. We recommend washing the cover every few weeks to keep things fresh.
With proper care, a quality memory foam pillow can last anywhere from 2 to 5 years. Over time, all pillows gradually lose some of their original support. A simple test: fold your pillow in half and let go. If it springs back to its original shape, it still has life left. If it stays folded or returns slowly, it may be time for a replacement. Our gel-infused memory foam is designed for durability, but like any pillow, it won't last forever.
Yes, this is completely normal. Memory foam responds to temperature, so a brand-new pillow that's been compressed in packaging may feel firmer than expected for the first 24 to 48 hours as it adjusts to room temperature and fully expands. You can speed up the process by gently kneading the pillow, placing it in a warm room, or even running it through a low-heat dryer cycle for a few minutes. After a night or two of use, most customers find the foam softens to its intended feel. For more tips, see our pillow expansion guide.
Yes. Unlike pillows filled with shredded foam or down that can vary in loft depending on how they're fluffed, our pillows are made from a single piece of solid gel memory foam cut to a precise thickness. A 2.75" pillow is 2.75", not an approximation. This is one of the reasons we offer five specific heights rather than a vague "low" or "medium" loft. When the height matters to your comfort, you shouldn't have to guess.
We respect other companies in the thin pillow space. Anyone making pillows for stomach and back sleepers is solving a real problem. Our edge is range: we offer five precise heights from 1.75" to 4.0" in our Slim Series, a Max Cool line with advanced CarbonBlue phase-change cooling, and the Versalayer with adjustable layers from 0.75" to 6". All our products are made with CertiPUR-US® certified foam, and with over 350,000 pillows sold and 9,000+ Amazon reviews, we've had a lot of practice getting this right. We're a family-owned company based in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, and we're here if you have questions.
