Between 5.25" and 6" the stack jumps: the layers can't add up to 5.5" or 5.75", so the next stop after 5.25" is the full 6". The four fixed heights up to 3.25" also come in Max Cool cooling versions.

Most pillows sold in stores land between 5 and 7 inches thick. Lay the pillow flat on a hard surface, leave it unpressed, and measure straight up at the center, where your head actually goes. Measuring at the edge or with a hand resting on top will read low. Solid foam gives you the same number every time, because it was cut to a height and it holds that height. Shredded fill and down are a different story. The reading changes with how recently the pillow was fluffed, so treat any number on that kind of label as an average.
